Khaberni - The case of Egyptian artist Sherine Abdel Wahab with the company "The Basement Records," which accused her of forging a social media management contract, has taken a new turn in favor of the latter.
Sherine lost the appeal she filed against producer Mohamed El Shaar, the CEO of the company, regarding the digital cooperation contract signed between them in 2018, after the court confirmed the validity of the contract and denied any suspicion of forgery, according to billboardarabia.
The ruling was based on a forensic report that examined the documents and proved that the contract was intact and dated correctly, contrary to what Sherine stated in her complaint where she accused El Shaar and her brother of forging the contract and denying her any financial entitlements associated with it.
The court scheduled a session on January 8, 2026, to continue reviewing the case between the parties after confirming the integrity of the documents.
Background of the Dispute
The conflict began in 2023 when the legal advisor Yasser Qantoush filed an official complaint on behalf of Sherine, accusing Mohamed El Shaar of leaking her songs "Wbahalfelak" and "Al Qammas" without obtaining her consent, in addition to taking over her social media pages, as noted in the registered complaint number 50638.
In March 2024, the Sheikh Zayed Misdemeanor Court found Sherine guilty of slander, defamation, and libel and ordered her to pay a fine of five thousand Egyptian pounds, according to statements by El Shaar's lawyer, Subhi Jamal.
The company had previously issued a legal statement in June 2024 responding to Sherine’s accusations of taking over her accounts, clarifying that the digital management of her accounts was done with her consent, and that her brother, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, had been authorized to complete the contract, as mentioned in the statement.
