Khaberni - The Iranian Revolutionary Guard confirmed on Wednesday that three of its members belonging to its ground forces were killed in a clash with gunmen in the city of Zahedan, in the province of Sistan and Baluchistan in the southeast of the country.
A statement issued by the Quds Base of the Revolutionary Guard stationed in the southeastern region stated, "Three soldiers from the Quds Base of the Revolutionary Guard were martyred while carrying out a mission to protect the borders from hostile and terrorist groups in the Lar-Zahedan border area."
The details of the attack and the initial reports indicated by the statement from the Revolutionary Guard Base stated that the operations to pursue the perpetrators are ongoing, along with the investigations into the incident.
Earlier, the "Halwash" website, concerned with the rights of the Baluch in Iran, had reported that several members of the Revolutionary Guard were killed in an attack by gunmen on a vehicle belonging to the forces in the "Lar" area of Zahedan.
The website added that four vehicles belonging to the Revolutionary Guard were on their way to their base in Lar when they were attacked by gunmen, noting that one of these vehicles was carrying one of the leaders, and that the commander of operations in "Lar" was killed during the attack, according to its description.
