Khaberni - The Ministry of Security in the government of the entity announced on Monday the start of construction of a security barrier on the eastern border between occupied Palestine and Jordan, as part of what it described as a strategic plan to enhance security and combat weapons smuggling and armed activities.

The first phase of the barrier begins with the construction of two sections, totaling about 80 kilometers, focusing on valleys and the plains area.

The project, which extends for about 500 kilometers from the Golan Heights to north of Eilat, includes a multi-layered system featuring an actual fence, radars, cameras, and advanced information technology to monitor any threats.

The project is estimated to cost five and a half billion shekels (1.22 billion Jordanian dinars).

The Minister of Security in the government of the entity, Yisrael Katz, stated that the barrier will enhance housing on the borders and reduce weapons smuggling, in addition to confronting Iranian attempts and its proxies to establish an eastern front against Israel.

He explained that the ministry will establish sites to enhance strategic control over the area.

Meanwhile, the Chief of the Border and Separation Directorate, General Eran Ofir, confirmed that the project is part of a comprehensive strategy that includes redeploying the army, building a "full ecosystem" comprising housing, infrastructure, water, agriculture, and health, to ensure border security and promote stability in the region.
