Civil Aviation Discusses Opening Air Routes with the Democratic Republic of TimorLeste

Khaberni - The Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority remotely participated in the International Civil Aviation Organization's Air Services Negotiations Conference (ICAN 2025), which was held in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

As part of the conference events, the Authority held bilateral talks with representatives of the East Timor Aviation Authority to enhance cooperation in the civil aviation sector.

According to a statement released by the Authority on Monday, the discussions covered a number of vital topics, including the development of regulatory frameworks and bilateral agreements to open air routes between the two countries, either through operating direct flights or via cooperative arrangements and code-sharing operations.

Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral relations in the field of air transport and keeping up with the best international practices in this field.

An agreement was reached to proceed with the necessary measures to finalize a liberal air services agreement between the two countries, with a confirmation of ongoing coordination between the relevant authorities to complete the national procedures for signing this agreement in the near future.

The discussions are part of efforts to make Jordan a regional hub for air transport by liberalizing airspace with target countries on a reciprocal basis and expanding the international air transport network, thereby enhancing air traffic, developing the civil aviation sector, and contributing to economic and tourism growth.
