The government Water challenges force us to supply water once a week in Jordan

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, Omar Salameh, confirmed that Jordan faces significant water challenges due to the decline in available resources and climate changes, forcing the ministry to supply water once a week in most areas and once every two weeks in other areas as much as possible, amid ongoing efforts to meet the needs of citizens.

Salameh criticized the improper excerpting of the ministry's statements and attempts to misrepresent them, confirming that what has been recently circulated does not reflect the true picture of the efforts in the water sector.

He referred to what the Minister of Water and Irrigation confirmed during discussions with the Finance Committee in the House of Representatives, about the sector achieving tangible achievements despite the challenges, highlighting successfully navigating the last summer, along with a reduction in water loss by 4.4% during the third quarter of the current year, reaching 40.9% compared to 45.3% during the same period last year, due to efforts to control violations on water lines and the King Abdullah Canal.

He added that the ministry continues to coordinate with the Syrian Arab Republic to improve the water situation in the Yarmouk Basin, noting that these efforts contributed to providing more than 30 million cubic meters of citizens' water rights.

He emphasized that the ministry works on several paths to achieve water security, including the National Conveyance Project, reducing loss, expanding sewage projects
