Khaberni - In the first response from the family of the late artist Umm Kulthum to the film "The Lady" which portrays the life of "The Star of the East", Khaled El-Soukary, the granddaughter of the late artist, said that the film exceeded his expectations, describing it as "very honorable" as it immortalizes her memory.

El-Soukary, during television statements on the sidelines of the special screening of the work in Egypt, praised the crew involved in the film in terms of acting, directing, and production.

The "Film Square Production" account on Instagram also shared impressions from Nadine and Dina El-Soukary about the work, and the family's praise for it.


The film will be officially released in Egypt on December 10th.

The work was recently showcased at the 22nd edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival in Morocco, attended by Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton, who expressed her admiration for the work, saying: "It is a great honor for me to attend the screening tonight, the reception of the audience was very beautiful, to be with an audience that interacts in this way is a very special thing, and this reflects the power of cinema."

A constellation of Arab art stars
The work includes a constellation of stars from the Arab art world, such as: Kareem Abdel Aziz, Ahmed Helmy, Nelly Karim, Amina Khalil, Asser Yassin, Mohamed Farag, Ahmed Amin, Amr Saad, Syed Ragab, Taha El-Soukary, Amir El-Masry, and Sadiq Sakhir.


The film is written by Ahmed Murad and directed by Marwan Hamed, and stars along with Mona Zaki, Ahmed Khaled Saleh, Ahmed Daoud, and Tamer Nabil, in addition to prominent guest stars.

Promo Surprises
The official promo of the work excited the audience, as it brought back memories of the time of massive collective cinematic productions, after years dominated by sole leading roles.

During the promo, the actor Ahmed Helmy appeared dressed as an officer revealing a fraud attempt targeting "Umm Kulthum", while Kareem Abdel Aziz plays a pivotal role through his performance as Sherif Pasha Sabri, brother of Queen Nazli and uncle of King Farouk.

The actor Amr Saad plays the role of leader Jamal Abdel Nasser during the events of the work, while the actor Mohamed Farag embodies the character of the lyric poet Ahmed Rami.

During the events, the actor Syed Ragab embodies the character of Sheikh and Mu'adhin of the mosque Ibrahim El-Beltagy, father of Umm Kulthum, while the actor Tamer Nabil presents the character of the late composer Mohamed El-Qasabgy, who collaborated with "The Lady" on important musical projects.
