Khaberni - In an incident that reveals the loyalty of dogs to their owners, the German police in Lower Saxony said on Saturday that a dog woke its owner from sleep just in time for the man to escape from his apartment, which had caught fire in the state located in northern Germany.
The police added that the man, aged 44, was able to leave the upper floor of the building located in the Moormerland region and reach a safe place thanks to the pet.
The man was taken to the hospital on suspicion of suffocation due to inhaling smoke.
It is believed that a technical malfunction caused the fire, which resulted in damages estimated at about 15,000 euros (17,000 dollars)
