Khaberni - Societies witness from time to time signs of tension or ideological deviations that may threaten their security and cohesion, but God’s law in His creation is based on the will of good for them and facilitating the ways that preserve their religion and stability. In light of what the city of Ramtha has witnessed, there is an urgent need for a conscious reading that puts matters in their religious and intellectual context.

Moderation… The Balance of Salvation

The principle of moderation is one of the most important pillars of Islamic law, as described by the Holy Quran:

﴿And thus We have made you a moderate ummah﴾.

Moderation is not a secondary option, but the essence and foundation of the religion. It includes creed, worship, transactions, ethics, and the entire life approach.

On the other hand, extremism in all its forms—whether ideological, doctrinal, or sectarian—represents a departure from this approach, opening the door to extremism, takfiri practices, and hostility among members of the same community.

The dangers of these phenomena often begin with the promotion of deviant ideas, mutual accusations, and belittling of entities and personalities, which gradually transform into an environment conducive to extremism and violence. This can be seen in some strained speeches that fuel division and sow discord.

Legitimate knowledge… A light guiding the path

Dealing with extremist thought is only possible through correct legitimate knowledge, which represents the heritage of the prophets and their methodology.

This knowledge is based on four clear pillars:

      1.  Returning to the Holy Quran, the primary source of guidance.

      2.  Receiving the authentic Sunnah without selection or fragmentation.

      3.  Understanding texts with the understanding of the companions and the followers, considering them as the practical extension of the Prophet’s message.

      4.  Avoiding the use of reason in matters of the unseen and scriptural rulings, but using it to understand the texts, not to control them.

Emulating this leads to the preservation of thought from deviation, protection of innocent blood, and shutting the doors in front of the instigators of discord.

Takfir… The most dangerous gateway

The escalation of Takfir discourse, attacks on the nation's scholars, and the promotion of myths and innovations are but attempts aiming at the youth's minds, drawing them to ideas that are foreign to our religion.

The events in Ramtha serve as an example; some groups tried to exploit the circumstances to spread their deviant thought. However, the cohesiveness of the society and the awareness of the relevant authorities formed a strong barrier that prevented it from worsening.

Security efforts worthy of praise

The security forces in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan have proven high readiness in identifying sources of Takfir thought and combating its dangers, reflecting great awareness and acumen in handling events.

This synergy between the state and society forms a model in protecting intellectual security and shielding society from the allure of extremism and extremism.

Conclusion

The events in Ramtha were not just a passing incident, but a reminder of the necessity to adhere to moderation, return to correct legitimate knowledge, and enhance community awareness.

We ask God to protect Jordan and its people from all evil and sedition, and to continually bless us with security and stability, and to preserve our king, Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, and to inspire him with wisdom and the best for the people and country
