Khaberni - The Hebrew newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" reported that Yasser Abu Shabab, the leader of a local militia openly cooperating with Israel in the Gaza Strip, was killed due to severe beating during a violent altercation with other members of his gang, over internal disagreements relating to the nature and extent of cooperation with the Israeli army.
The newspaper added that the phenomenon of eliminations and infighting among local armed militias in Gaza is noticeably expanding recently. According to the Israeli security system, reported by "Yedioth Ahronoth", the killing of Abu Shabab is expected to enhance the Hamas movement's status as the de facto governing authority in the territory, and will significantly weaken the chances of success of the Israeli project to use these militias as a governmental and military alternative to Hamas within what is called "the day after plan" for the war on Gaza.
