Khaberni - The Drama Committee of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation in Egypt issued a decisive statement revealing the truth about the recent circulation of what is known in the media as "lists of prohibitions" related to the dramatic works scheduled to be shown in the Ramadan season of 2026.
The committee denied in an official statement the issuance of any prior directives or decisions related to the content of drama, confirming that what was discussed on some news websites and social media pages were fabricated information with no basis in truth.
The committee clarified that setting regulatory lists or prior warnings is not within its jurisdiction, indicating that its role is confined to monitoring what is actually shown from works and evaluating their compliance with the codes of the Supreme Council of Media Regulation, while the responsibility for licensing scripts and their preliminary evaluation lies only with the Censorship of Artistic Works.
The committee expressed its regret over what it described as a lack of professionalism by some platforms that did not adhere to journalistic rules in verifying information through referring to official sources, but also ignored the denial issued by the chairwoman of the committee and several of its members.
It also confirmed that legal actions will be taken against any entity or individual who promotes false information attributed to the committee.
Social media had seen the circulation of a purported list of "strict" recommendations attributed to the Drama Committee, including warnings that encompass the prohibition of promoting drugs, prohibiting the discussion of organ trafficking except in a context that highlights the difference between illegal trade and legal donation, in addition to asking to steer clear of showing marital infidelity and scenes of violence and thuggery without justification.
The list also included conditions related to not showing corruption within state institutions except in a framework that serves a clear message, supporting the image of women and respecting the intelligence of the viewer, and focusing on social and ethical values, all of which the committee completely denied any relation to.
