Khaberni - The Toyota Gazoo Racing team celebrated an exciting season finale at the first edition of the Saudi Rally, after Sebastien Ogier and his assistant Vincent Landais finished third in the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 car number 17, securing the 2025 World Rally Championship organized by the FIA. This title is Ogier's ninth, setting a new world record, and it is also the first world title for Landais.
With this unique achievement, the Toyota Gazoo Racing team continues to lead the world championship, having been crowned world champions for the sixth time in seven years. The team and Toyota company also accomplished a triple sweep for the fourth time in five years, after securing the manufacturers' championship title at the Central Europe Rally last October, bringing Toyota's tally to ten world championships.
On this occasion, Akio Toyoda, president of the Toyota Gazoo Racing team, said: "An amazing victory, no doubt! That's what comes to mind when I watch Sebastien. Congratulations to the team on the ninth title, and congratulations to Vincent on his first title as well! Juha, Yari Matti, and all team members, thank you very much for the great effort this season and for achieving the manufacturers' title."
The Saudi Rally in Jeddah featured some of the toughest racing conditions of the past season; combining silky desert sands, rocky mountain stages, and high temperatures that pushed drivers and vehicles to their limits. Ogier and Landais managed to control and maintain their pace from the start of the race, avoiding significant time losses that affected many competitors due to the harsh driving routes. Their disciplined strategy on the final day culminated in the team securing third place, along with the crucial points that clinched the title after a season that included six wins and ten titles out of 11 races.
Over the past years, Toyota participated in many motorsports, including "Formula 1," "World Endurance Championship," and the "24-Hour Nürburgring Endurance Race," conducted through separate teams and entities within the company until April 2015, when Toyota established the "Gazoo Racing" division with the aim of consolidating all of its motorsport activities under one name. Driven by Toyota’s ethos, "We gain experience on the roads; to make better cars," Gazoo Racing highlights the role of motorsports as a key pillar in the company's commitment to developing the best cars ever. Leveraging years of experience gained under the harsh conditions of various racing sports, Gazoo Racing aims to develop leading technologies and innovative solutions that provide everyone with the experience of freedom, adventure, and the joy of driving.
