Khaberni - Axios reported, on Tuesday, citing officials from the United States and Israel that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked US President Donald Trump yesterday during a phone call for more support, at a time when he is seeking a pardon from the Israeli President.

The office of the Israeli President Isaac Herzog said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had formally requested earlier this week for the president to grant him a pardon.

Netanyahu faces a long-standing trial on corruption charges, denies the charges against him, and pleads not guilty.

Netanyahu received an invitation from the US President Donald Trump on Monday to visit the White House "in the near future" during a phone call between them.

A statement issued by Netanyahu's office confirmed that "he had spoken shortly before with US President Donald Trump," explaining that Trump invited him "to meet at the White House in the near future."
