Artist Sameh Hussein issued a statement clarifying the reality of his appointment at Helwan University, confirming his respect for the academic community and his participation only in a non-teaching capacity.
In the past few hours, news circulated that the Egyptian artist Sameh Hussein was appointed as a faculty member at Helwan University in Egypt, which led to widespread interaction on social media.
This prompted Hussein to issue an official statement clarifying the details, affirming his full respect for the academic field and his carefulness not to interfere in responsibilities that do not concern him.
Hussein explained in his statement that he was surprised by what was raised about his visit to the university, which was by an official invitation from it as he is one of the graduates of the Department of Theatre Science, where he participated in an open meeting with students of the Faculty of Arts, without the visit being connected to any form of appointment.
Official denial of his appointment as a faculty member
In a clarification published on his official Facebook page, Sameh Hussein emphasized that he was not appointed as a faculty member at Helwan University, and that the university did not offer him this matter in the first place. He added that the academic community has clear rules, and he believes that university teaching must be based solely on academic specialists.
The artist pointed out that he is a graduate of the Department of Theatre Science at Helwan University, after obtaining a Bachelor of Laws from Ain Shams University, expressing pride in his educational experience and university career.
Discussions on sharing professional expertise
Hussein continued that his meeting with the president of Helwan University, Dr. El-Sayed Qandil, involved a discussion about modern teaching methods that allow the participation of experts and practitioners in fields related to the educational process, provided that the participation is in a non-academic capacity. He confirmed his readiness to provide his practical expertise as a coach in his field, aiming to support students without holding any academic position or tasks.
Details of the proposed collaboration with "Helwan Plus" platform
The Egyptian artist also mentioned that his program on social media titled "Qatayef", which deals with various societal issues, was one of the reasons that led to the proposal for him to present material through the "Helwan Plus" platform affiliated with the university. He explained that the invitation included preparing simple and appealing content addressing topics related to curricula and societal issues through theater or discussion with specialists.
He confirmed that he requested that academic professors accompany him in this participation to ensure the accuracy of the presentation and respect for the specialization.
