Khaberni - Orange Jordan held an idea review session for participants in the "Digital Solutions Hackathon in the Tourism Sector for People with Disabilities". This was to follow up the launch of the hackathon which was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and in conjunction with World Tourism Day, to serve as a leading platform that enables university students to develop innovative solutions that contribute to the empowerment of people with disabilities and enhance the accessibility of tourism experiences for everyone.
The seven selected teams presented their ideas in front of a specialized jury panel, after participating in an intensive training camp focused on a set of core themes, which included: integration of people with disabilities, accessible tourism, assistive technologies, and presentation skills. The participants showcased innovative digital solutions aimed at enhancing the tourism sector by improving accessibility and availability of services to all without exception.
The judging panel included a group of experts from various entities, they are: a member of the Senate and the head of the Committee on People with Disabilities in the council, Aasia Yaghi; the Assistant Director of E-marketing at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Ezzat Kalboneh; the architectural design and accessibility consultant at Jordan Ready, Engineer Narjis Shawakbeh; the director of the Programming Academy affiliated with Orange Digital Center, Salameh Yasin; and the supervisor of Orange Jordan Studio, Omar Mihyar.
The teams presented innovative projects relying on the latest technologies to enhance the integration of people with disabilities in the tourism sector. The solutions varied between smart applications for the deaf and hard of hearing, devices dedicated for people with visual and mobility disabilities, digital platforms for trip planning, and interactive experiences in museums that rely on screens, sign language, and tangible models. Notable projects include: Through Everyone’s Eyes, Heritage that is Touched, Heard, and Seen, Eshara Platform,
Jordan 360, Boundless Travel, My Accessible Journey, and Guide Me.
Orange Jordan expressed its delight in seeing young people's digital ideas turned into practical solutions that contribute to empowering people with disabilities and opening new prospects for inclusive tourism in the kingdom. The hackathon was not merely a competitive event but a real platform to make a positive impact in the society, where innovation meets responsibility and ethics to build a more inclusive future for everyone.
The qualifying teams were selected, with the official announcement to be made during the celebrations of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3, in recognition of their creativity in presenting smart, sustainable digital solutions that contribute to enhancing the inclusion of people with disabilities in the tourism sector and reflect the community commitment of Orange Jordan to support youth and innovation for a tangible positive impact.
