Khaberni - Media reports have confirmed that FIFA has decided to grant European clubs an exception that allows them to keep players participating with their national teams in the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 until mid-December, instead of forcing them to leave as soon as they are called up.

Media personality Keith Downie on Sky Sports network mentioned that this decision reflects a desire to give clubs more flexibility in squad management during the domestic season, especially with the pressure of matches and tournaments, and to avoid the impact caused by holding the Africa Cup of Nations during the season.

He explained: "This adjustment in the rules comes at a time when the importance of African players in European leagues is increasing, as many stars play a pivotal role in their clubs."

He pointed out that prominent among these players is Mohamed Salah, the star of Liverpool, who has long been a notable attacking reference and is considered one of the top African faces in the Premier League, and his compatriot Omar Marmoush at Manchester City, and Achraf Hakimi, the Moroccan full-back known for his offensive and defensive contributions, who has significant experience in European clubs, and is one of the top stars at Paris Saint-Germain, alongside Bryan Mbeumo, the Cameroonian striker who recently moved to Manchester United after shining with Brentford, having scored 20 goals last season in the Premier League.

He concluded: "Having these players on the roster within their clubs until December 15 allows coaches to rely on their technical and physical expertise in crucial matches before they join their national teams. This can contribute to the stability of the teams and aligning continental and local commitments."
