Khaberni - The Palestinian Ambassador to the Republic of Albania, Sami Mehanna, son of the former Director-General of Crossings, Nazmi Mehanna, announced the end of his official duties at the embassy starting from December 1, 2025, according to a decision issued without an official explanation of its reasons, although he hinted that the matter might be related to personal reasons concerning his father Nazmi Mehanna.

Ambassador Mehanna, in a farewell message addressed to the embassy staff and the components of the official institution, confirmed that his six-month work period was filled with diligence and challenges, emphasizing that he performed his duties “with the highest levels of professionalism and responsibility, and with all sincerity and commitment.” He expressed pride in what he achieved during his tenure in Albania, considering that his departure “does not mean the end of the road, but the beginning of a new stage.”

Mehanna offered his thanks and appreciation to his colleagues in the diplomatic corps and all the employees he worked alongside, confirming that their support and cooperation had a significant impact on his professional and personal journey. He said he leaves his position “with his head held high,” confident that what he provided will remain a testament to his effort and dedication.

In the conclusion of his message, Ambassador Mehanna wished his colleagues continued success and good fortune in serving the Palestinian cause, apologizing for any unintended shortcomings, and confirming that “whatever good they found is from and to them.”

At the beginning of last October, the competent court for corruption crimes, upon the request of the head of the Corruption Prosecution, decided to summon the former Director-General of the Palestinian Authority for Crossings and Borders, Nazmi Mehanna, to investigate issues related to smuggling of antiquities and financial and administrative corruption.
