Khaberni - A delegation from Petra University participated in an advanced international workshop on sustainability in universities, organized by the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) in Germany from November 24-27, 2025, as part of the "Sustain-JO" project funded by the German Academic Exchange Service.
The delegation included Professor Dr. Wael Hadi, Dr. Ali Al Maqwashi, Dr. Nasreen Al Atoum, and students Yusuf Al Shanti, Lin Al Ghabari, and Sadeen Al Khalili from the College of Information Technology.
The workshop addressed several specialized axes in the fields of sustainability, including integrating sustainable development goals into curricula, and using design thinking as an innovative approach focusing on delivering practical solutions with user participation.
The university team actively participated in various training sessions, where participants were asked to design an educational activity for university students that includes integrating sustainable competencies and linking them to sustainable development goals. Additionally, the team conducted practical training using the design thinking methodology to find innovative solutions for a problem presented during the workshop.
Petra University’s participation comes as part of enhancing international cooperation and exchanging experiences, and supporting efforts aimed at integrating sustainability concepts into the educational environment within Jordanian universities.
