The Kremlin responds to a question about the details of Bashar alAssads residency in Russia

Khaberni - Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman for the Russian presidency, stated today, Monday, that the Kremlin is unable to disclose any information related to the former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's residency in Russia.
Peskov told reporters in response to a question about whether the Kremlin could provide any information regarding Assad's stay in Russia during the past year, or whether the former Syrian leader had met with Russian President Vladimir Putin during this period: "No, we cannot disclose any information on this matter."

Reports following the takeover of power by armed opposition forces in Syria in December 2024, indicated that Assad and his family are in Moscow and have been granted asylum in Russia.

Last October, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced during a meeting with journalists from Arab countries that Bashar al-Assad and his family are residing in Russia for purely humanitarian reasons, due to a direct threat to his life if he remained in his homeland.

Lavrov also refuted the news and rumors that circulated about an alleged attempt to poison Assad in Moscow.
