Khaberni - Under the guidance of Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widian, President of Amman Arab University, emphasizing the need to support students to participate in international competitions, students of the Cybersecurity Department in the College of Information Technology achieved a new accomplishment to add to the university's success record. The team (InnovAxis) secured the second place in the Live Hacking competition, held during the C8 2025 Conference on Progress, Innovation, and Technology in Cybersecurity, organized by the National Center for Cybersecurity, the Jordanian Center for Design and Development (JCDD), and Sofex Jordan company, at King Hussein bin Talal Convention Center – Dead Sea.
The team included students: Amer Gaith, Abdulrahman Al-Qaisi, and Mohammad Al-Ajarmah, who delivered an outstanding performance throughout the various stages of the competition, which included practical tests in cyberattack and dealing with scenarios that simulate real challenges in the field of cybersecurity. The team advanced through most of the challenge stages before clinching the second place by a narrow margin, maintaining a high technical level throughout the competition. The team was supervised in training and preparation by Dr. Rami Sahweil, Dean of the College of Information Technology, and Dr. Kamal Aliyan, Assistant Dean, through an intensive training program and continuous technical support before and throughout all stages of the competition. The competition saw participation from (13) Jordanian universities, with Al-Zaytoonah University securing the first place, followed by Amman Arab University in second, and Zarqa University in third.
Dr. Sahweil praised the advanced performance of the students, affirming that this excellence reflects the college's approach to enhancing applied skills and supporting student participation in specialized technical events. He added that the college continues to work on developing an educational environment that keeps pace with rapid advances in cybersecurity, integrating practical aspects with academic content, which contributes to enhancing students' readiness and their ability to compete in technical forums locally and regionally. Dr. Sahweil also appreciated the continuous support provided by the university administration for student initiatives and practical activities.
Dr. Aliyan confirmed that this achievement reflects the excellence of the academic programs offered by the college and the high level of student proficiency, noting that the live hacking competition is among the most prominent practical activities that give students the opportunity to test their skills in a professional-like environment.
