Khaberni - The chairman of the Parliamentary Health and Food Committee, Dr. Ahmad Al-Sarahnah, confirmed that the health insurance file allocated for poor families is closely monitored by the committee, especially since the approved limit for offering insurance is still low compared to the needs of the families.

Al-Sarahnah said in an intervention on Public Security Radio that the nineteenth House of Representatives had previously followed this file when the permitted income limit was 280 dinars, which was later raised to 300 dinars, yet this amount "is not sufficient to cover the basic needs of the family".

He explained that the committee has included the health insurance file in its agenda for the current session, and that it will hold a joint meeting with the Ministries of Health and Social Development to discuss the possibility of raising the approved limit to 400 dinars.

Al-Sarahnah pointed out the importance of taking this step to expand the circle of beneficiaries, noting that the committee addressed the Ministry of Social Development through official letters regarding this matter, and that some medical cases currently receive exceptions granted by the insurance.

He concluded by affirming that the committee is striving to abolish the current exemption system, and to open the field for fair and comprehensive benefits for all low-income families without discrimination.
