The government refers 11 law projects to the House of Representatives all at once

Khaberni - The Minister of State for Legal Affairs, Fayyad Al-Qada, said on Saturday that this is not the first time that the government has referred a number of laws to the House of Representatives, pointing out that the number is dictated by need.

Al-Qada added that when the government has a need for amendments to the laws or when it refers law projects to the House of Representatives, it has identified projects it believes need amendment or establishment, according to the kingdom.

He explained that the 11 law projects that the government submitted to the House of Representatives all at once, some need amendment of one or two articles, in addition to two laws for ratifying agreements.

He pointed out that the order of presenting these laws in the House of Representatives and the mechanism of their presentation in the first, second, or third session is a matter that the council possesses, where the first session is for the first reading, and it is not necessary to go into details.

Al-Qada confirmed that the government's work is linked to the convening of the House of Representatives, considering that the 11 attached laws are not large in size.

On his part, the chairman of the parliamentary legal committee, Aref Al-Saaydeh, said that the absence of an extraordinary session made the government push this number of laws to the House of Representatives.

Al-Saaydeh added that there were many laws that needed amendments to be compatible with economic updates.

He mentioned that when the government referred the 11 laws, the chairman of the House of Representatives allocated a full session to transfer these laws to the relevant parliamentary committees.

Al-Saaydeh explained that when the laws arrive from the government to the dome, they go to the permanent office which transfers them for preliminary reading under the dome. Either this law is rejected or accepted and transferred to the committee or discussed under the dome if it carries the urgency trait.

The chairman of the parliamentary legal committee added that in case any member is absent from the committee meetings for three consecutive times, he is then expelled from the committee.

Al-Saaydeh affirmed that it is difficult for the government to pressure the committee to pass a specific amendment to a law, clarifying that this is a belief, and that the committee summons experts on the subject, whether from the public or private sector, listens to their opinions, discusses with the government, and if the committee is convinced by this opinion, they make the amendment.
