Khaberni - A wooden platform collapsed during a wedding ceremony in Uttar Pradesh, India, resulting in minor injuries to several party leaders, in an incident that was caught on camera and widely spread on social media platforms in India.
The incident occurred during a wedding ceremony organized for the brother of one of the local party members. The event was attended by prominent party leaders and former parliamentarians, in addition to about 12 officials.
As the leaders were ascending the platform to bless the newlyweds, the wooden structure suddenly collapsed under their feet, causing everyone including the bride and groom to fall in a surprising manner.
An official confirmed to Indian media sites that the accident occurred due to the weakness of the platform built from wooden planks without any additional supports to bear the weight, and said, "Fortunately, no one was seriously injured; only some of the attendees suffered minor injuries."
The video clip spread very quickly on social media, and the humorous comments from the users were striking, as some humorously wrote: "They fell... in love," while others commented on the weight of the attendees saying that the leaders were "heavier than the platform’s wood."
Serious calls have also been issued for the necessity to improve safety measures at public events, especially those attended by officials or large numbers of citizens, to prevent such incidents in the future.
