No Solution for the House of Representatives
الكاتب: المهندس زيد نفاع

Khaberni - Whenever rumors abound "and the jug taps the jar,” the same question is posed:

Is the state headed towards dissolving the House of Representatives?

Turning back to the essence of the scene, we find that the elections of the twentieth council that took place on the tenth of September last year, were praised unprecedentedly by international monitoring missions, among them the European Union mission, which confirmed that the electoral process in Jordan was conducted according to the highest standards of transparency, integrity, and governance. Some observers even noted that many politically and party-developed countries have not reached this level of electoral discipline.
These official reports – available to the relevant entities – have cemented Jordan's image as a serious democratic state that respects its political path and does not allow it to be tarnished.

Yet, there are still some within the country trying to market outdated narratives that conflict with the facts on the ground, even though the same international institutions no longer endorse these claims.

So... why is the topic of dissolving the House of Representatives raised?

Following the American administration's declaration of labeling some branches of the “Muslim Brotherhood” as, (foreign terrorist organizations)
in three countries including Jordan, many got confused between:

The international organization of the Muslim Brotherhood.

And the Islamic Action Front party,

which is a licensed Jordanian party operating under the framework of the constitution and the laws that regulate political life.

This mix-up has created confusion among some, and has turned into speculations about actions that might be taken against certain individuals.

It is natural that any individual or party, if found to have violated legal or suspicious behavior, will be held accountable according to the law, even if it evolves to the extent of dissolving any party represented in the House of Representatives which will lose its legitimacy in the council, and those seats will be filled from other lists. This is a general principle that applies to all members and parties without exception, and does not affect the Jordanian party system that operates within a legal and constitutionally fortified framework that protects everyone.

Are we facing the dissolution of the council?

The definite answer of course: no.

The Jordanian state is a steadfast and strong state, not run by rumors, not succumbing to the logic of “emergency,” and does not allow the creation of a political vacuum that lasts a full year, especially at a time when the country is receiving international praise for the robustness of its democratic experience and the good management of its internal scene.

The constitutional solution for the House of Representatives is not a step taken as a reaction, nor is it resorted to except for major national necessities, which are not met today.

Burdening the state with a political vacuum in the midst of a turbulent region, and amidst positive international reports about Jordanian political performance, contradicts the methodology of the fixed and strong Jordanian state, which relies on stability and accumulates and maximizes achievements.

Jordan today is an impregnable democratic state, it protects its political plurality by law, safeguards its constitutional institutions, and refuses to tamper with its dignity or to involve it in any temporary calculations or pressures.

Accordingly, the House of Representatives will complete its constitutional term, and there is no political or constitutional indicator that justifies heading towards dissolution at this stage.

The Jordanian state is stable, strong, and impervious politically and security-wise… the constitutional life is stable… Jordan's democratic standing has already been proven and not merely superficially.
