Khaberni - Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona, launched a sharp attack on Real Madrid and its president Florentino Pérez, describing the latter's statements during the general assembly of the white club as evidence of an "obsession" with the Catalan club.
In response to Pérez's accusations of Barcelona having paid substantial sums to the former referee José María Enríquez Negreira, Laporta vehemently denied these claims, accusing Real Madrid of repeatedly exploiting the issue to "distract from its internal problems."
Laporta clarified that Real Madrid's discussion of Barcelona at its general assembly was "out of place," stressing that the "Negreira affair" is used as a "media weapon" despite the lack of evidence.
He said, "They are procrastinating because they know it has no basis in truth; Barcelona has never offered bribes to referees," recalling that historically, refereeing decisions have favored Real Madrid more.
Is Real Madrid afraid of Barcelona's return to glory?
Laporta also discussed Real Madrid's last match against Elche, considering that the two goals scored by the Madrid team "could have been annulled", which would have allowed Barcelona to top the Spanish league.
Laporta then defended the golden legacy of the club, saying, "It seems that our best times, when Barcelona was dominant, bother them; we were the team that played the best, loved and admired."
He added, "Now joy is back among Barcelona fans, and they are afraid that we may witness another glorious period."
Criticism of Real Madrid's channel and defense of Tebas
Laporta did not miss the opportunity to criticize Real Madrid's television channel, describing its behavior as "shameful" and accusing it of attempting to "influence referees weekly."
He asked, "If this isn't an attempt to influence the referees, then I don't know what is."
Unlike the tense relationship between Real Madrid and LaLiga, Laporta confirmed that his relationship with the LaLiga president, Javier Tebas, is "normal" and based on respect, accusing Real Madrid of seeking to appoint someone more aligned with Pérez.
In another matter, Laporta commented on the future of the European Super League project, noting that the club is currently acting as a "bridge" between the project and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) during a "transitional phase" aimed at reaching an agreement.
He affirmed that Barcelona "does not want to be at odds," because "the sustainability of European football starts with peace."
