Khaberni - Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Touqan confirmed that the total foreign aid and grants received by Jordan during the third quarter of the current year reached 3.2 billion dollars.
During the meeting of the parliamentary financial committee to discuss the public budget bill for 2026, Touqan explained that the agreement signed with the European Union includes three main packages: 640 million euros in grants, and a billion euro concessional loan to support the budget for the years 2026 – 2027.
She indicated that Jordan will receive 500 million euros from the value of the agreement by the middle of next year, following its ratification by the European Union and its transfer to the European Parliament.
She added that the agreement also includes financing tools aimed at the private sector worth 1.4 billion euros to support investment projects within the kingdom.
Regarding the project the national carrier, Touqan emphasized that the financial closure of the project will be completed during the first half of next year, noting that the aid and grants provided for the project amounted to about 642 million dollars.
She explained that the government has allocated 300 million dinars for the project over the next four years, and worked on attracting financing from the private sector and collaborating with donor agencies to reduce the project costs and borrowing costs.
Touqan anticipated, in response to inquiries from MPs, that the project implementation will start in July of the coming year after the start of executive works.
