Khaberni - Cristiano Ronaldo has been freed to play in next summer's World Cup after FIFA suspended the red card penalty he received as captain of the Portugal team against Ireland in the European qualifiers for the global event.
The Mirror newspaper reported that "Madeira Rocket" might face a legal issue that could prevent him from participating in the 2026 World Cup if the rivals of the Portugal team decide to challenge FIFA's decision.
It emphasized that FIFA might face legal actions from the teams Portugal will play against in the 2026 World Cup after allowing Cristiano Ronaldo to participate in next summer's tournament, although he still has two more matches to serve to complete his suspension.
FIFA took an unprecedented step by suspending the last two matches of the three-match ban imposed on the Saudi Al Nassr star after he was sent off for elbowing Irish player Dara O'Shea during a qualifier earlier this month in Dublin.
"The Don" missed his country's match against Armenia, while FIFA decided to suspend the penalty for two matches due to his exemplary international match record.
The British newspaper continued that if one of "the Navigators"' rivals in the World Cup decides to challenge FIFA's decision, then Cristiano would be at risk of missing two group stage matches at the World Cup.
