The "WhatsApp" messaging application, owned by Meta, is considered the most used and popular messaging application globally according to the number of monthly active users, based on data from the market and consumer data company Statista.

As of October 2025, WhatsApp has reached 3 billion monthly users worldwide.

The application is famously popular in markets outside the United States and is one of the most famous social communication applications on mobile phones worldwide.

In second place is the "WeChat" application, with 1.41 billion monthly active users.

In third place is the messaging application "Telegram", with its monthly active users reaching 1 billion as of last October.

Coming in at fourth place is the "Messenger" app, also owned by Meta, with 942 million monthly active users globally.

The fifth position was taken by "Snapchat", which had 932 million monthly active users around the world as of last October.
