Khaberni - The Italian authorities have unveiled a shocking case in the city of Mantova, where the military police are investigating a 56-year-old man accused of attempting to defraud the state and exploiting his deceased mother's pension in an illegal manner after hiding her body at his home for several years.
The investigations confirmed that the man, who was a nurse before becoming unemployed, did not officially report the death of his mother, Gratziella Dal Ouglio, who was 82 years old at the time of her death about three years ago. Instead, he wrapped her body in sheets and buried it in a sleeping bag inside the house, thereby putting it in a state of natural embalming.
The accused exploited this crime in an unconventional way, by wearing his mother's clothes and applying makeup and a necklace to his face to perfectly mimic her appearance, then he headed to a government office in the suburb of Borgo Virgilio to renew her ID card, attempting to acquire the annual pension which amounted to about 47,000 British pounds, alongside investing in the family-owned properties.
An office worker noticed a difference in the physical traits of the man disguised as his mother, including a thick neck and hands that appeared younger and a voice shifting between feminine and masculine tones, so he was reported to the police and also to the mayor, according to the "Mirror" newspaper.
The police then went to the accused's house, where they found his mother's body in the laundry room in an advanced state of embalming, and it was transferred to the local hospital's morgue for an official autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The prosecution charges the man with charges related to the illegal concealment of a body and defrauding the state, while investigations continue to determine all aspects of this strange and controversial incident, which caused widespread shock among the local residents.
