Khaberni - The Director General of the Standards and Metrology Organization, Abeer Al-Zuhair, stated that since the beginning of the year, the organization has examined all goldsmiths, jewelry, and precious ornaments.
Al-Zuhair added during the Finance Committee meeting in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, to discuss the budget of the Standards and Metrology Organization, that the organization will soon add a service to inspect both local and imported diamonds.
She noted that the amount of gold jewelry stamped since the beginning of the year amounted to about 15,000 kilograms. The organization also dealt with about 66,000 kilograms of silver bullion in terms of inspection, stamping, or technical evaluation.
The Finance Committee in the House of Representatives held its first meeting on Tuesday to discuss the draft general budget law.
