Khaberni - The government announced on Monday the establishment of 19 schools, serving about 12 thousand male and female students in various provinces of the kingdom, within the framework of the community responsibility project launched by the government last March, which was supported by private sector institutions.
These schools include 309 classrooms and 15 kindergarten rooms, with the completion rate in 14 schools ranging from 10%-67%; it is expected that the construction of 3 schools will be completed next month, and 16 schools by the year 2026.
The new schools include special facilities for teachers and administrators, playgrounds and sports fields for students, theaters, and interactive boards.
The schools and their locations were selected based on urgent needs and priorities, and justifications linked to the educational process, addressing fundamental problems; such as eliminating the use of rented buildings, solving the problems of classroom overcrowding, and the double shift system, in addition to expanding vocational education.
In detail, the Ministry of Education explained that two schools will be established in Irbid Governorate; Maraw Basic Coeducational School in Irbid Qasaba, which had been experiencing student overcrowding, in addition to the absence of a basic school in the area, with the new building's completion rate exceeding 61%.
Work is underway to complete the studies for the tender of constructing Al Makhayba Secondary School for Girls in Bani Kinana, which is experiencing student overcrowding, in addition to the need to separate educational stages in the school, and the introduction of kindergarten classes, besides the shortage of administrative rooms.
Also, work is underway to construct a new building for Aisra Basic Coeducational School in Jerash, which had been using a rented building, in addition to the overcrowding in its classes; Aisra Basic Coeducational School and Amna bint Wahb School (evening shift) will vacate the rented building to ease overcrowding at Sakib Mixed Secondary School and Amna bint Wahb School (morning shift). The completion rate in the new building is about 44%.
Also, Omar bin Al-Khattab School will be established in Jerash Governorate.
In the capital governorate, work is underway to establish two schools in the districts of Qweismeh and Naour; and constructing a new building for Qweismeh and Abu Alanda Secondary School for Girls, aimed at expanding vocational education, with the new building's completion rate about 67%.
The completion rate in the new building for Al Baniyat Basic School in Naour district is about 58%; the current building suffers from overcrowding, and the new building will eliminate the double shift system at Al Baniyat Secondary School for Girls, which uses the building in the second shift, as well as alleviate overcrowding at Al Baniyat Basic Mixed School, in addition to the area's need to establish schools for females due to the continuous population increase, and accommodate students from Al Qullah Basic School that was evacuated.
In the Balqa Governorate, work is underway to construct a new school in Ain Al Basha, due to the area's need for a school, which will contribute to eliminating the double shift system for Bilal bin Rabah Basic School for Boys and Ain Al Basha Basic School for Boys, as well as getting rid of the rented building for both schools and reducing overcrowding; the completion rate in the new building is 15%.
In Deir Alla district, work is ongoing to complete studies for the tender to construct a new building for Umm Hammad Basic School for Boys; the current rented building will be vacated, and overcrowding will be reduced, in addition to the area where the rented building is located being unserved by transportation.
Three schools will be established in Mafraq Governorate; work is underway to establish Abu Dharr Al Ghifari Basic School for Boys in the North Western Badia district, with a completion rate of about 62%, the rented building will be vacated, and overcrowding at Mansoura School for Boys will be reduced, transferring male students from Granada Basic Mixed School.
In the North Eastern Badia district, the completion rate at Umm Al Quttain Secondary School for Boys is 10%, to solve the problem of overcrowding within the classrooms, and the rented buildings for Umm Al Quttain Basic Mixed School/Eastern Neighborhood, Umm Al Quttain Basic Mixed School/Western Neighborhood, and Umm Al Quttain Basic Mixed School will be vacated.
In Mafraq Qasaba, work is ongoing to complete studies for the tender of constructing a new building for Prince Mohammed Secondary School for Boys; to solve the problems of overcrowding in the classrooms; and work on separating two schools will also be performed.
Moreover, work recently started on constructing Hay Sakreen Secondary School in Ajloun Governorate, with a completion rate of 13%; work will proceed to vacate the rented building to reduce overcrowding at Anjara Secondary School for Girls and expand vocational specializations (BTEC).
In Karak Governorate, a new building will be constructed for Nusayba Al Maziniya Basic Coeducational School in Qasaba district; with a completion rate of 16% in the new building, the rented building will be vacated, and overcrowding at the Adnaniya Basic Coeducational School will be reduced.
Also, work is ongoing to construct a new building for Fatimah Al Zahra Basic Coeducational School in Ma'an Governorate, due to the area's need for a school; the completion rate is more than 60%, two rented buildings will be vacated, Umm Salamah Basic Mixed School will be merged with Umm Salamah Al Ansariah School, and overcrowding at Abdul Rahman bin Auf Secondary School will be reduced, promoting the new school to the tenth grade.
In Petra district, work is ongoing to complete studies for the construction of a new building for Nusayba Al Maziniya Coeducational School, which suffers from overcrowding; the rented building is old, in addition to the urgent need for a new school; as the current building is a two-story residential building, and its capacity is limited.
In Zarqa Governorate, three schools will be constructed; work is underway to build a new building for Hay Al Ahmad Basic School for Boys affiliated with Zarqa First Directorate, with a completion rate of about 40%. The new building for the school will eliminate the double shift system for Uqba bin Nafi Basic School the First for Boys and Uqba bin Nafi Basic School the Second for Boys, by transferring the students of Uqba bin Nafi School the First to the new building and promoting it to the secondary stage, and accommodating students from Hay Nassar School in the new school.
In Zarqa Second Directorate, two schools will be constructed; the first is Prince Abdullah Basic Mixed School; due to the area's need for a school where the completion rate is about 63%, to help relieve overcrowding in the classrooms, address the shortage in them, introduce vocational education and kindergarten classes to reduce pressure in the secondary school.
Hay Al Salehiah Basic Mixed School's completion rate is 15%, to help eliminate the double shift system and promote the school to alleviate burdens on parents due to the lack of transportation to schools.
In Madaba Qasaba, Al Khattabiya Basic School for Boys will be established, with a completion rate of more than 63%; the rented building will be vacated and student overcrowding will be alleviated, in addition to providing rooms for vocational specializations.
Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan stated that "community responsibility is not a momentary effort or a reaction to exceptional circumstances; rather, it is a policy and approach that must be continuous, transcending governments and boardrooms."
