Khaberni - In the presence of HRH Princess Alia bint Hussein, Zain Jordan renewed for the fifth year the cooperation agreement with the Princess Alia Foundation, to continue supporting Al Ma'wa Sanctuary for Nature and Wildlife, as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting environmental initiatives and enhancing efforts to protect nature in the Kingdom.
The agreement was signed by HRH Princess Alia bint Hussein and the CEO of Zain Jordan, Fahad Al Jasem, in the presence of several executives from both sides at the Zain headquarters.
The renewal of the agreement aligns with Zain Jordan's 2025–2030 sustainability management strategy and its firm commitment to protecting the environment, preserving natural resources, and reducing environmental degradation. It also reflects the company's approach aimed at raising awareness about the importance of preserving wildlife, protecting endangered species, and ensuring the continuation of natural balance and the conservation of the environmental legacy for future generations.
This agreement solidifies Zain's position as a key partner in adopting and implementing sustainable development goals by enhancing joint efforts with the Princess Alia Foundation to support Al Ma'wa Sanctuary for Nature and Wildlife, one of the most prominent environmental sites in the Kingdom and a national model for biodiversity protection. The impact of the sanctuary not only extends to the environmental aspect but also includes supporting the local community by creating job opportunities for residents of the surrounding areas.
Through this agreement, Zain will continue to provide its technical and logistical support to the sanctuary, by equipping it with modern surveillance cameras to minimize negative behaviors towards forests and animals, and preparing periodic reports that evaluate the environmental and social impact of the sanctuary. Moreover, the company provides free Wi-Fi service to all sanctuary visitors to ensure an interactive experience that enriches their visit and contributes to promoting the sanctuary.
It is worth mentioning that the partnership between Zain Jordan and the Princess Alia Foundation spans many years and is a model of sustainable cooperation that reflects both parties' commitment to serving the environment and the community. Zain's mobile free clinic for children participated in an eye-care and vision health campaign conducted in Deir Alla area in cooperation with the "One Sight" organization. The campaign witnessed the examination of more than 1074 individuals and provided them with the necessary medical services as part of joint efforts aimed at supporting local communities and enhancing their access to specialized health services.
Al Ma'wa Sanctuary for Nature and Wildlife spans 1,100 dunams in the mountains of Souf City north of the Jerash archaeological site and serves as a permanent place for implementing wildlife protection and rehabilitation programs. These programs confiscate animals based on local authority requirements and in accordance with the standards of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and local environmental legislations. Al Ma'wa Sanctuary focuses on protecting forests and critical areas, providing a safe environment for wildlife, and developing educational programs tailored for the local community.
