Death of Egyptian Media Personality Mervat Salama After a Battle with Cancer Who is she

Khaberni - Egyptian media figure Mervat Salama passed away on the morning of Sunday, November 23, 2025, after a battle with stomach cancer, as her health recently deteriorated in a private hospital in Cairo.

Before her death, Mervat Salama was transferred to intensive care following a sharp decline in her blood circulation, due to a specific diet prescribed by her doctor during her illness.

Mervat Salama began her media career as an assistant director and broadcaster at Egyptian Radio, before moving to television, where she presented a number of innovative programs, especially in the field of children's programs such as "Dunya Al-Atfal", "The Little Theater", and "Anderson's Stories".

Her creative contributions also extended to cultural programs, particularly through her famous show "Teatro", which enriched the Egyptian theatrical scene for decades and enhanced the audience's interest in local theater.

During her career, Mervat Salama held several leadership positions in Egyptian Television, including the presidency of the Egyptian Satellite channel and vice-presidency of television in different periods of the golden Maspero era.

Mervat Salama is also the sister of the late composer Jamal Salama and Farouk Salama, and sister to the father of media personality Mohamed Al-Samaha, and her husband was the late novelist Dr. Fawzi Fahmi, who presided over the Academy of Arts and passed away in 2021.
