Khaberni - Former Leicester City player, Jamie Vardy, made a touching humanitarian gesture during his participation with Cremonese in a strong match in the Italian league against Roma at the Stadio Giovanni Zini.
The British newspaper The Sun reported that Vardy wore the number 10 jersey, but instead of writing his name on the back, he wrote his wife "Becky's" name in a symbolic step, as part of the "Red Against Violence" campaign aimed at combating domestic violence and violence against women, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
It added: "Cremonese was not the only team in the initiative, as other teams such as Lecce, Lazio, Parma, and Udinese joined, where players wore names of women from their families or close to them, such as their mothers, wives or daughters, as an honor and support for this humanitarian cause."
It continued: "Vardy chose his wife 'Becky's' name on the back of the jersey in honor of their relationship that began in 2014 and was crowned with marriage in 2016, and the couple is raising six children, three of whom are from their marriage, two from Becky's previous relationships, and another child from a previous relationship of Vardy."
It further stated: "This initiative reflects a humanitarian side of Vardy’s personality off the field, and highlights the ability of athletes to support important issues and increase social awareness about combating violence against women."
