Khaberni - Hebrew media revealed that the former Israeli War Minister, Yoav Galant, was urgently evacuated from his home in Moshav Amikam more than a year ago, due to a serious security threat related to the location of the house and the difficulty of securing it.
The Hebrew site "Yedioth Ahronoth" mentioned that since then, Galant has moved to live in another area where he still resides to this day.
The evacuation occurred while Galant was still serving as the Defense Minister, just before his dismissal by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on November 5, 2024.
Despite his departure, his home in Amikam remained protected by the relevant agencies, but it is still vacant.
The information indicates that the security threat was not only related to Galant himself, but also to the nature of the area where the house is located, which is difficult to protect.
Reports last July stated that the government seeks to reduce the duration of protection granted to former defense ministers, including Galant and Benny Gantz, in a move described by informed sources as politically motivated primarily targeting Galant.
According to the regulations in force, the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) provides protection for defense ministers for five years after their term ends, but security sources confirmed at the time that the level of threat had increased, while the government decided to reduce protection measures.
Just over a year ago, and at the height of the war in the north, Hezbollah launched drones at the home of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Caesarea, targeting the window of the Prime Minister's bedroom, but the protection of the house prevented more significant damages.
