Is Your New Favorite Singer Human or Robot Key Differences Reveal the Truth

Khaberni - Today, new songs are spreading that prove their ability to stick in the listener's mind, as Kylie Minogue said: "You can't get it out of your head". But what if these songs are composed by a robot, or that the artist himself is just a product of artificial intelligence? And are there legal obligations or streaming platforms required to disclose that?

A recent survey showed that 97% of participants could not distinguish between a human-produced song and one generated by artificial intelligence, but there are signs that may reveal the truth, according to "BBC".

Lack of physical presence of the artist
The absence of live performances and the artist from social media has become a common indicator of artificial intelligence productivity, as was the case with the band "The Velvet Sun Dawn", which was rumored last summer to be entirely AI-produced. The band later described their project as "AI-powered under human creative guidance", but many fans felt disappointed, especially after the absence of any live shows or online interaction.

Music indicators revealing artificial intelligence
Music experts point out some indicators:

Songs are too homogenous yet lack emotional weight or story.
Excessive repetition of words and musical patterns, with unsatisfactory endings.
Overproduced and a flawlessly perfect singer's voice.
Professor Gina Neff from Cambridge University says: "Songs that seem too perfect may lack the human spirit, suitable for background music but they do not make future stars."

Artificial Intelligence as a tool for artists
Artificial Intelligence is no longer exclusive to beginners but is used by veteran artists to support their work. The Beatles, for example, used machine learning to recreate John Lennon's voice in the song "Now and Then", while artist Imogen Heap released a song using the ai.Mogen model that mimics her voice.

Heap says: "I want listeners to feel a human connection with the song, even if part of the singing is generated by artificial intelligence, and I don't want to hide that."

Steps towards more transparency
Currently, there are no laws obligating platforms to label songs produced by artificial intelligence, but there are clear movements towards transparency.

Deezer developed a tool to detect AI-generated songs, revealing that 34% of the content on its platform this year was entirely generated.
Spotify supports the DDEX system that allows artists to specify the level of AI use in their songs, and displays the information to listeners within the song metadata.

The question remains: does it matter if the artist or their songs are produced by artificial intelligence? Some listeners believe that the musical experience transcends the source of the song, while others think that transparency and the right to choose are necessary.

Music experts confirm that the use of artificial intelligence opens up "strange ethical questions", but it still does not replace the story and human depth in music that dazzles listeners.
