Khaberni - In line with the vision of Amman Arab University to establish a culture of sustainability and enhance its role in responsible education and focused scientific research serving the community, and within its continuous journey towards quality and excellence, Amman Arab University has achieved a significant accomplishment by entering the QS Global Sustainability Ranking for the first time in 2026, ranking second among Jordanian universities in the environmental research criterion and third in the social impact of education criterion, in addition to achieving the fourth rank in the health and well-being criterion across all Jordanian universities, and overall performance in various ranking criteria highlighted Amman Arab University achieving the fourth rank among private universities, and the eleventh rank among Jordanian universities.
In this regard, Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widian, the president of Amman Arab University, pointed out that the university's first entry into the QS Sustainability Ranking and achieving these advanced rankings represents recognition of the university's continuous efforts to promote sustainable education, scientific research, and community services, affirming the university's commitment to sustainability principles and social and environmental responsibility, and its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of education, research, and community services, indicating that the university will continue to develop its programs and initiatives to ensure the sustainability of its academic and community impact.
It is noted that the first edition of the QS Global Sustainability Ranking was launched in 2022, and this ranking is one of the most prominent global performance indicators in the field of university sustainability, aimed at measuring universities' performance in areas of sustainability and community responsibility, based on a set of criteria including environmental impact, community responsibility, governance, in addition to assessing scientific research and academic initiatives related to sustainability, which provides universities an opportunity to highlight their role in achieving sustainable development and enhancing their competitiveness locally and internationally.
It is worth mentioning that Amman Arab University hosts the Arab Council for Sustainable Development, one of the councils emerging from the Association of Arab Universities, which was established by a decision from the Executive Council in 2021 to support the efforts of Arab universities in promoting sustainability and community responsibility. The council works to establish the concept of sustainable development, encourage joint Arab action, empower the developmental role of higher education institutions, in addition to supporting initiatives related to the quality of education, entrepreneurship, women's empowerment, and promoting the concept of green universities.
