Khaberni - Sponsored by the president of Zaytuna University of Jordan, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Majali, the Business College organized an excellence competition in accounting for Jordanian universities in collaboration with the Association of Chartered Accountants, with the participation of a group of academic, professional, and regulatory leaderships, confirming its leading role in supporting professional disciplines, enhancing student efficiency, and linking university education outcomes with labor market requirements.
The event was attended by the chairman of the organizing committee and the chairman of the board of Jordanian Association of Chartered Accountants, Professor Hossam Tawfiq Mahmoud Rahal, and the General Manager of the Department of Income and Sales Tax, Dr. Hossam Abu Ali, and the General Comptroller of Companies, Dr. Wael Al-Armouti, and the president of the Audit Bureau, Dr. Radi Musa Al-Hamadineh, alongside representatives from the board of Jordanian Association of Chartered Accountants and members of the organizing committee, and the executive director of the association, Ms. Suheir Attari, as well as several faculty members from participating universities, representatives of professional course granting centers, in addition to the vice-president of the university, Professor Dr. Tarek Al-Qurum, deans of faculties, faculty and administrative staff, and a number of students.
The chairman of the organizing committee, Professor Hossam Tawfiq Mahmoud Rahal stated that the competition represents an advanced model of integration between universities and professional institutions, contributing to the preparation of a generation of accountants who possess the scientific knowledge and practical skills necessary to keep up with rapid developments in the business environment. He noted that the Jordanian Association of Chartered Accountants is keen to support distinctive initiatives that develop student capabilities, establish professional excellence standards, and enhance the readiness of graduates to engage in the labor market efficiently and competently.
The General Manager of the Department of Income and Sales Tax, Dr. Hossam Abu Ali, in his speech during the event, emphasized the importance of instilling the accounting culture in youth, and fostering a spirit of competition and challenge among them, calling for the need to double efforts and strive for excellence in academic disciplines, which enhances their ability to compete in the labor market, in the face of limited opportunities and the high level of competencies required.
Dr. Hossam Abu Ali also commended the efforts of Zaytuna University of Jordan in launching special initiatives that contribute to the preparation of a professional generation capable of adapting to changes and efficiently dealing with future challenges, pointing out that this competition reflects the university's commitment to providing a competitive environment that develops students' skills in financial analysis, professional thinking, and decision-making, which enhances their job market readiness and consolidates the university's position as an academic institution supportive of creativity and excellence.
He added that enhancing the partnership between academic institutions and official bodies represents an important strategic direction towards aligning educational outcomes with labor market needs, and building specialized personnel who possess theoretical knowledge and practical experience in financial and accounting fields.
Meanwhile, the General Comptroller of Companies, Dr. Wael Al-Armouti, expressed his pleasure in seeing this initiative that translates concepts of cooperation and partnership into tangible reality within this distinguished academic institution, referring to his experience with the Jordanian Association of Chartered Accountants in training cadres of the Companies Controller Department, which had a significant impact on enhancing professional experiences. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the academic sector and the private and public sectors to provide the labor market with the specialized competencies it actually needs, pointing out that the rapid developments in communication methods and information flow pose new challenges requiring outstanding institutional performance. He added that competitions like these contribute to directing students towards the right path to acquire locally and internationally competitive skills, aligning with the economic modernization vision launched by His Majesty, which prioritizes human resource development.
In turn, the Dean of the Business College at Zaytuna University of Jordan, Professor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Shahada confirmed that this forum brings together a group of young creative accounting students from Jordanian universities, in the pursuit of excellence and leadership, embodying the spirit of academic competition and elevating learning outcomes in the field of accounting. He added that Zaytuna University of Jordan is proud to host this national forum, which gathers twenty-four Jordanian universities for the first time, stemming from its firm belief that the role of the university transcends teaching boundaries, extending to be a hub for creativity and a platform directing youth towards professional excellence horizons, indicating that this forum exemplifies the finest forms of partnership between universities and civil society institutions, reaffirming that Jordanian universities will remain beacons of learning and factories of competencies, reflecting the values of our prestigious academic institutions in the search for excellence, and their commitment to providing education that keeps up with the latest developments in the accounting profession.
Twenty-four Jordanian universities participated in the competition, including: Middle East University, Petra University, Philadelphia University, Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Jordan University, Ajloun National University, Zarqa University, Mutah University, Hashemite University, Irbid Private University, Amman Arab University, Jadara University, Al al-Bayt University, Applied Science Private University, Amman Private University, Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, Yarmouk University, World Islamic Sciences University, Tafila Technical University, Al-Balqa Applied University, Jerash University, Arab Open University, German Jordanian University, in a scene that reflects the spirit of academic competition and cooperation between higher education institutions, and affirms the shared interest in developing the accounting profession and preparing qualified national competencies that meet labor market needs.
The competition sessions were moderated by the executive partner and founder of KPMG Global Auditing firm, Mr. Hatem Al-Qawasmi, and Dr. Maha Ayoush, in a framework that enhances professionalism and elevates the level of adjudication and evaluation in the competition activities.
