Khaberni - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati, today, Saturday, called for the rapid formation of the international stabilization force in Gaza to undertake its responsibilities and tasks.

Initiation of early recovery steps
During a meeting today, Saturday, with British National Security Advisor Jonathan Powell, on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, Abdel Ati emphasized the importance of full implementation of the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement, the initiation of early recovery and reconstruction steps, and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

He also emphasized the necessity of concerted international efforts to ensure the implementation of the Security Council's resolution on Gaza, according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

Furthermore, Abdel Ati reviewed the arrangements for Egypt's hosting of the International Conference for the Early Recovery and Reconstruction of Gaza, and looked forward to the participation of the United Kingdom in the conference to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.

The meeting also addressed developments in Sudan, where Minister Abdel Ati informed the British official of Egypt's efforts within the framework of the Quartet mechanism to support de-escalation and achieve a comprehensive ceasefire, reiterating the importance of regional and international efforts to create conditions for launching a comprehensive political process that preserves Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and stability, affirming Egypt’s steady and supportive stance towards the Sudanese people and their national institutions.

Early 2026
This came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that the United States wants to test the deployment of an international force in Gaza, but Israel informed the Americans that time is not indefinite.

He pointed out that the main task of the international force intended to be deployed in Gaza, as defined by the UN Security Council resolution and President Donald Trump's plan, is "the dismantling of Hamas and the disarming of the Gaza Strip".

Hours after the UN Security Council approved the American proposal concerning Gaza, and the establishment of the international force, the United States launched accelerated efforts to form this new force, and it is now expected that the first contingents of this multinational force will arrive in the Gaza Strip in early 2026, according to what Israeli media reported.
