Khaberni - The Commissioner of Archaeological Reserve and Tourism Affairs at the Petra Regional Authority, Yazan Mahadin, stated on Friday that the positive numbers and indicators clearly affect the local sectors in the province, with distinctive figures and an increase recorded during October and November compared to last year.

Mahadin added that the number of visitors in October reached about 81,000, a 71% increase compared to last year, including 49,910 foreigners, which is a 99% increase from last year.

He mentioned that on October 24, 2025, there were 4,957 visitors entering the Petra Archaeological Reserve, while the visitor count since the beginning of November has reached 51,251, marking a 19% increase compared to last year, confirming that the indicators suggest a rise in numbers in the coming days.

Regarding the occupancy rates of Petra's hotels, Mahadin noted that they are high, explaining that all the hotels that were closed have reopened, except those requiring maintenance, which are currently under preparations for the upcoming tourist seasons.

He confirmed that these indicators and the return of tourism indicate that the tourism markets have regained their confidence in Jordan, highlighting that it is safe and stable, following the improved regional conditions and the return of low-cost aviation.

Mahadin also pointed out that the positive impact was also reflected on restaurants, cafes, and strategic partners from associations operating inside and outside the reserve, offering a range of tourist experiences aimed at extending visitors' stay in the Petra development tourism region.

He explained that one of the musical events held in May had made a financial return of 1.8 million dinars over two days, taking place in Cold Siq and Al-Namr Dam in Al-Beidha area. Last week saw a concert by the artist Kazem Al-Saher, attended by approximately 650 visitors, aimed at promoting tourism in the Middle East and the Arab world.

Mahadin added that there will be a large number of activities and events next year, emphasizing the strategy that Petra is a center for art, creativity, culture, and civilization.

He noted that this year work has been done on a distinct culture titled "The Culture of the Bedouins in Wadi Rum and Petra,” which was listed as part of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2008. This year, efforts have been made on six poetry houses in the regions of Ammarin, Um Sayhoun, Taybeh, Wadi Musa, Delagha, and Rajif, aiming to showcase the hospitality of Jordanians.
