Dr AlNsour Arab Potash is moving forward with expansion investments worth 11 billion dollars to enhance production capacity

Khaberni  – The CEO of Arab Potash Company, Dr. Maen Al-Nsour, confirmed that the global demand for Jordanian potash still maintains its usual pace despite the geopolitical conditions in the region, pointing out that the company has managed to maintain the continuity of production and export operations according to the approved operational plans, ensuring the fulfillment of global market needs for fertilizers and derived chemicals.

Dr. Al-Nsour explained during a television interview with Al-Mamlaka channel that Jordan ranks eighth globally in terms of exporting potash materials, which gives it an important position in the global supply system of agricultural production inputs, especially in light of the vital role that fertilizers play in supporting global food security and sustainable agricultural production.

Dr. Al-Nsour also indicated that Arab Potash Company has been working from an early stage on proactive planning to ensure the continuity of production operations and the smoothness of supply chains, where the product is transported to the city of Aqaba and then shipped by sea to various international markets, emphasizing that Jordanian potash enjoys a distinguished reputation in terms of quality and specifications, which enhances its presence in the global markets and keeps the demand for it at stable levels.

Dr. Al-Nsour pointed out that the mining sector in Jordan, led by potash and phosphate production, constitutes one of the main pillars of the national economy, given the high reliability of Jordanian products in global markets, noting that the company also produces a range of strategic chemical materials with added value, including bromine and its derivatives, which are used in several vital industries.

Dr. Al-Nsour confirmed that the company continues to export its products to markets across different continents, noting that the demand for fertilizers and related chemicals remains strong, at a time when the company operates around the clock to ensure the continuity of production and meet the needs of clients worldwide.

Dr. Al-Nsour mentioned that the current geopolitical challenges have impacted the global maritime transport and shipping sector, including the rise in insurance costs and the provision of vessels crossing the Red Sea, but the company has managed, in coordination with relevant government entities, to address these challenges and maintain the smoothness of export operations without substantial impacts on its supplies to the markets.

Dr. Al-Nsour explained that Arab Potash Company sells and ships its products to various regions of the world such as Asia, Australia, Europe, South America, and North Africa, confirming that the company has succeeded in maintaining the regularity of shipping operations to all these regions despite the challenges faced by the maritime transport sector regionally.

Regarding future expansion plans, Dr. Al-Nsour pointed out that the company is moving forward in implementing a package of strategic investment projects aimed at enhancing production capacity and strengthening the company’s position in the global markets, explaining that one of the most prominent of these projects is the southern expansion project, which will enable the company over the next four years to increase its production by about 750,000 tons annually, bringing its total annual production of Jordanian potash close to 4 million tons.

Dr. Al-Nsour stated that the cost of this project amounts to about 1.1 billion US dollars, and it is being financed by Arab Potash Company as part of a long-term strategy aimed at enhancing the company's competitiveness globally and expanding its presence in international fertilizer markets.

Dr. Al-Nsour added that the company is also working on implementing a bromine plant expansion project in partnership with Albemarle Corporation, aimed at doubling production over the next four years, thereby enhancing the position of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as one of the leading producers and exporters of this material globally.

Dr. Al-Nsour affirmed that all the projects implemented by the company proceed according to the specified timelines, with equipment and installations arriving through the ports of Aqaba, within a strategic vision focused on expanding investments and enhancing production and consolidating the company's contribution to support the national economy and enhance Jordan's presence in global supply chains for agricultural production inputs.
