Khaberni - The LADBible site reported that a French man found gold valued at approximately 700,000 euros while digging a pond to construct a swimming pool in his garden.
The LADBible website indicates that the man had bought his house a year ago and decided to renovate it, including constructing a swimming pool in the garden. During the excavation, workers found several plastic bags containing five gold bars and a large number of coins, all carefully packaged as if intentionally hidden.
According to local media, the bags were a few tens of centimeters below the surface. The man immediately reported the find to the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs, which is responsible for examining treasures to determine their archaeological value, historical significance, and possible criminal origins. It later turned out that they were not archaeological artifacts, dated back about 15-20 years, and no criminal traces were found.
French law states that any potentially archaeologically linked discovery must be reported. Also, the nineteenth-century civil law states that "ownership of the treasure goes to the one who discovered it on their land, unless someone else can prove their right to it."
Since the previous owner had died and no one else claimed the gold, the man received official permission to keep the gold he discovered in his garden after six months of investigation.
