Khaberni - MP Dr. Bayan Fakhri Al-Mahasiri has proposed to the President of the House of Representatives, urging the allocation of specified and clear seats in public transport for pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
Al-Mahasiri clarified in an official memo that the proposal aims to improve the conditions of using public transport, especially for categories of women—particularly pregnant women, elderly women, and mothers accompanying children— in addition to the elderly and people with visible disabilities or illnesses.
She pointed out that social changes in recent years have led to a decline in young people's initiative to offer their seats to these groups, thus calling for a clear regulatory intervention.
She urged the Ministry of Transport and Public Transport Regulatory Authority to adopt effective measures including setting up clear signage and dedicating empty seats on all public transport buses throughout the kingdom to ensure seating priority for these groups.
Al-Mahasiri concluded her request by calling the relevant committee to study the proposal and provide recommendations to the government to take necessary actions to enhance service levels and provide a safer and more respectful transportation environment for citizens' needs.
