5 Foods that Improve Body Odor

Khaberni - If you are looking for ways to improve your body or breath odor, the ingredients on your plate are the perfect solution.

Evidence suggests that eating fruits and vegetables regularly while limiting meat intake can help reduce these odors, and there are specific foods that can help you enjoy a fresh scent all day long.
1. Apples

The antioxidants found in apples act as a cleanser, and apples can remove bacteria and plaque from the teeth, especially when biting into and chewing a whole apple instead of eating it with apple sauce or drinking its juice, as mentioned by Megan Wroe, a nutrition expert at Providence Saint Jude Medical Center.

According to "Free Will Health", this helps neutralize bad breath and make it sweeter.

Specifically, the high level of polyphenols in small apples might have antibacterial effects that help reduce bad breath by inhibiting sulfur-producing bacteria.

2. Oranges

Research suggests that the level of carotenoids in the skin, which reflects the intake of fruits and vegetables, is linked to body odor.

In one study, high carotenoid levels were significantly associated with a pleasant sweat odor, characterized by floral, fruity, and sweet scents.

Other fruits rich in carotenoids include mango, melon, and papaya.

In general, oranges, lemons, and citrus fruits all have properties that eliminate bacteria known for causing bad breath and gases.
3. Yogurt

Dr. Hyun Gray, a nutrition professor at the University of Florida, mentions that regular consumption of plain yogurt, which is rich in probiotics, supports a balanced gut microbiome, which in turn reduces the production of odor-causing metabolites.

A recent systematic review of randomized controlled trials found that probiotics, like yogurt, significantly reduce bad breath odor and help control the growth of oral bacteria.

4. Refreshing Herbs

Herbs such as basil, rosemary, mint, and parsley contain neutralizing antioxidants that enable them to kill bad-smelling bacteria.

These herbs possess a unique property in that they contain fragrant oils; when chewed, these oils are released, giving off an aroma similar to refreshing mint candy."

Studies have shown that chewing raw mint leaves or consuming peppermint oil reduces the proliferation of many bacteria associated with bad breath and gum disease, ultimately improving oral odor.

5. Nuts and Seeds

Nuts and seeds, such as pumpkin seeds, cashews, flax seeds, and walnuts, contain zinc, plant-based omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, and polyphenols.

Gray says, "These elements can affect the composition of skin fats, microbial balance, and oxidative status - all of which indirectly impact the development of body odor
