Price boarded a short ferry heading to the small island, a sanctuary for hundreds of thousands of birds during the summer, where nests are packed very closely together, exacerbating the competition among the birds for nesting sites.
While the birds were pecking each other occasionally, Price captured a rare shot showing one guillemot holding its neighbor by the head for a brief second, enough to record a funny and unique moment on camera.
This moment is part of a series of wild scenes that highlight the natural and playful behavior of birds, which has made the photo widely admired across social media platforms.
The amusing picture of the two birds taken by Warren Price has reached the shortlist for the Wildlife Comedy Photography Award for the year 2025, becoming one of the 40 final images carefully selected from thousands of submissions from around the world.
