Khaberni - Irbid Greater Municipality confirmed that the removal of one of the homes on University Street in the city of Irbid by its machinery and personnel was because the house was at risk of collapsing and represented a health hazard, in addition to its use in negative practices, which poses a danger to public safety.
The municipality clarified that it usually informs the owners of old dangerous houses of the need to demolish them, and regarding the house that was demolished, it indicated that it had obtained the heirs' approval to completely remove it using the municipality's machinery, in exchange for granting the municipality the old stone of the building to use in restoring and rehabilitating heritage houses, according to the agreement. It was also agreed to take the olive trees on the property, some of which are over 70 years old.
The municipality confirmed that the house was a ruin and that it dealt with it as it does with other collapsing houses. It mentioned that there are similar houses in Samakh neighborhood that will be dealt with in the same way after completing the necessary approvals and legal procedures.
