Khaberni - The Middle East University hosted former Prime Minister Dr. Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh during the Middle East Dialogues event titled: "Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh… My Journey", in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dr. Yacoub Nasser al-Din, the President of the university Dr. Salam Al-Muhadin, Vice President Dr. Ahmed Al-Lozi, Member of Parliament Dr. Tamara Nasser al-Din, and former Minister of Labor Dr. Nadia al-Rawabdeh, along with members of the faculty and administrative staff at the university.
In his speech, Dr. Nasser al-Din praised al-Rawabdeh's career, describing it as an inspiring model in leadership and knowledge, emphasizing the necessity of recalling the past to interpret the present and build the future, and stating that al-Rawabdeh represents a rich national school of experiences worthy of reflection and learning.
During the dialogue session moderated by the media professor Dr. Hani al-Badri, a faculty member in the College of Media, al-Rawabdeh expressed his pleasure in meeting the university students, affirming his pride in the role of the Middle East University in establishing the values of national dialogue.
Al-Rawabdeh reviewed the pivotal stations of his professional and political career and his extended experience in public service, discussing the major challenges and achievements that marked his career in various leadership positions he held. He provided deep analytical insights based on his long experience in state institutions, affirming that his career was built on diligence, seriousness, and continuous pursuit of knowledge from his upbringing to his service in various state positions. He also emphasized the constants of the Jordanian approach to governance and administration, and the importance of instilling values of belonging, moderation, and responsibility in the conscience of future generations.
Al-Rawabdeh stressed the importance of science and investment in it as being the most successful path to building nations, pointing out that national responsibility starts from an individual's awareness of their role and recognizing that a job is not a personal privilege but a duty to serve the nation and its citizens. He added that the pursuit of knowledge represents a cornerstone in the advancement of countries and building a person capable of development and influence.
Al-Rawabdeh emphasized that the citizen is the foundation of a nation's strength, and that investing in science forms the most important path to enhancing this strength. He noted that differing with governments is natural, while the state remains the constant that must be preserved and its stability safeguarded. He also pointed to the importance of protecting the nation and adhering to its identity as an indivisible shared responsibility.
In the closing session, an extensive discussion took place between al-Rawabdeh and the students, covering a range of prominent issues on the Jordanian scene, in addition to issues concerning youth and their role in shaping the future. The students expressed their appreciation for al-Rawabdeh's rich experience and their benefit from his vision and inspiring experiences.
