Discover the Fascinating Link Between Dental Inflammation Treatment and Heart and Diabetes Diseases

Khaberni - A recent medical study showed that treating certain inflammations affecting the teeth reduces the risk of diabetes and heart diseases.

JTM magazine explained that treating periapical periodontitis — a chronic inflammation affecting the roots of the teeth — is associated with improvements in glucose and lipid metabolism in the body, as well as reduced levels of overall inflammation, positively reflecting on the risk of metabolic diseases.

Researchers observed 65 patients over two years, analyzing their blood samples using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Just three months after the inflammation treatment, scientists noticed a significant decrease in inflammation indicators and some amino acids linked to an increased risk of metabolic disorders. Over two years, their glucose and pyruvate markers improved, lipid levels stabilized, and the body gradually regained its metabolic balance.

The study also demonstrated a close association between the composition of the microbiome in the blood and the roots of the affected teeth and metabolic changes in the entire body, confirming that localized dental inflammations can impact the overall health of the body.

Based on these findings, researchers concluded that successful endodontic treatment is not just a means to protect the teeth, but also an important step to reduce the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and timely dental treatment.
