Khaberni - The Minister of Agriculture Saeb Abdel Halim Al-Kharaysat welcomed in his office, His Excellency the American Ambassador to the Kingdom Mr. Jim Holtsnider.
During the meeting, Al-Kharaysat emphasized the deep relations between the two friendly countries and their ongoing cooperation, especially in the agricultural sector. He highlighted the major challenges facing the sector, foremost among them the scarcity of water resources, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the partnership with the United States to overcome these challenges and mitigate their negative impacts on farmers and local production.
Al-Kharaysat mentioned the efforts made by the ministry in developing modern irrigation systems, promoting smart agriculture, and supporting small and medium agricultural projects, which contribute to enhancing the sustainability of the sector and improving its efficiency.
The meeting addressed ways to enhance agricultural trade exchange between the two countries and discussed opportunities to increase Jordanian exports of agricultural products, especially dates and olive oil to the American markets, in addition to exploring the possibility of benefiting from American expertise and technologies to improve the quality of Jordanian agricultural production and increase its export capacity.
Al-Kharaysat confirmed that the development of agricultural trade cooperation serves as an important economic lever and opens wide prospects for Jordanian farmers to reach new and promising markets.
