Khaberni - The Brazilian site UOL reported that the company owned by Neymar Junior’s father, striker for Santos FC, has acquired the full trademark rights of the late legend Pele, with the deal amounting to $18 million USD.
The official announcement of the deal is scheduled to take place next Wednesday, coinciding with the anniversary of Pele’s thousandth goal.
The source mentioned that the negotiations went smoothly, especially since Pele's trademark has not been fully exploited since his death in December 2022.
This acquisition includes:
The rights to use the image and name of the three-time world champion.
The licensing rights for merchandise, historical archives, and other assets related to the legend.
Neymar has scored only 3 goals in 16 matches with Santos in the Brazilian league during this season, currently holding the 16th position in the ranking with 36 points after 33 rounds.
