Khaberni - Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, in collaboration with Joby Aviation, conducted the first manned flight of an electric vertical takeoff and landing air taxi between two different locations.
With this flight, Joby became the first company in the world to execute a manned flight between two different points within the state, covering the distance between the company's test site in Margham and Al Maktoum Airport in just 17 minutes.

The authority also announced the completion of 60% of the construction works for the first vertical takeoff and landing station for the air taxi near Dubai International Airport, in addition to constructing three additional helipads in collaboration with strategic partners.
Matar Al Tayer, the General Manager of the Authority, confirmed that this achievement reflects the vision of the leadership to make Dubai the best city globally in terms of quality of life and the most ready for the future of smart and sustainable transportation.

He indicated that the service will be commercially launched in 2026, where it will provide innovative solutions for urban mobility, reducing the trip from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah from 45 minutes by car to just 10 minutes, which will enhance the integration between different modes of transport in the emirate.
